The Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is urging business schools across the country to leverage technology in bridging the gap between academia and industry.
According to him, students must be exposed to pragmatic approaches in solving problems in relation to the business world to aid economic growth.
Speaking at the 60th Anniversary of the University of Ghana Business School, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, called for collaboration between industry and academia to promote innovation and growth in technology.
He said industry partnerships are instrumental in advancing research and creating a skilled workforce to drive economic growth.
“We must adopt technology at our universities to support the sustainable growth of the economy. Students should be supported to find solution to the gap between academia and industry”, he said.

Professor Justice Bawole, Dean of the University of Ghana Business School, responded to President Akufo-Addo’s appeal by saying that the university will intensify several activities in that regard to help students gain skills to compete in the corporate sector.
“We are digitising our lecture halls, we are implementing mandatory internship programme for these students to learn some soft skills and behavioral issues at work”, he stated.

The 60th anniversary was held under the theme "The future of business education in Ghana; reflecting on the 60-year experience of the University of Ghana Business school”.
Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, presented 100 laptops to the University of Ghana Business School.
The donation was in fulfillment of a pledge Dr. Bawumia made to the UGBS earlier in the year to support the school’s One Student, One Laptop initiative announced by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, to advance digitisation on campus.
