CSUC encourages graduates to embrace entrepreneurship

The Christian Service University College is urging graduates to venture into entrepreneurship instead of waiting to be on the government’s payroll.

The Dean of Postgraduate Studies, Rev. Prof. Yaw Adu Gyamfi, asked the graduates to eschew the mentality that the government should be the main employer.

He was speaking at the introduction of new postgraduate programs in the university.

The Ghana Statistical Service reports that the rate of unemployment among youth in Ghana is about 20 percent while the World Bank reports about 50 percent of young people are not employed.

The Dean of Postgraduate Students, Christian Service University College, (CSUC) Rev Prof. Yaw Adu Gyamfi, is however, urging graduates to be creative and venture into entrepreneurship.

“We don't go to the university because we want a job, we go to the university to prepare our minds and create our own jobs.

“This will help them begin to do something for themselves and stop depending solely on the government to create jobs for them.

The university is there to train students but after graduating you have to start a business on your own instead of waiting to be employed,” he said.

Meanwhile, the University has launched four postgraduate courses as part of its vision to develop and expand facilities.

These include MA Communication Studies, Mphil Communication Studies, Mphil Mathematics Education and Mphil English Education.
