Police have removed the constituency Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Adansi Asokwa constituency in the Ashanti region, alleging that he is serving as a polling agent for incumbent MP K.T. Hammond.
The police have instructed party executives to leave the voting center until the election is concluded.
All 14 party executives in the constituency have declared their support for incumbent MP K.T. Hammond, and their absence from the center aims to avoid potential inducement.
K.T. Hammond, who is also the Minister for Trade and Industry, is facing competition from Sammy Binfoh Darkwah, Deputy CEO of the Ghana Library Authority, Dr. Enoch Acheampong, and Kwabena Nkansah Asamoah.
Voting is underway across the country, with a total of 321 candidates competing for NPP tickets in the 2024 parliamentary elections, with 33 candidates running unopposed.
The Electoral Commission is overseeing the election.
