A teacher, Paul Alale Agobiri has emerged victorious in the Bawku Central constituency, securing a win in the New Patriotic Party primaries in the Upper East region by a slim margin of just one vote.
The election, which suffered a postponement due to security concerns in the area, saw Mr Alale Agobiri polling 176 votes, narrowly surpassing his close rival, Mohammed Tahiru Nambe, who garnered 175 votes.
Amadu Mogtar Bagya secured 163 votes, Mahmud Issah Zakary had 102 votes, and Salifu Bashiru obtained 35 votes.
The Parliamentary candidate for the party in the 2020 election, Agbanwa Gabiana Abugri, trailed with 33 votes, and only one vote was rejected.
Mr Alale Agobiri, a professional teacher at the Binduri Community Day School, emerged as a key figure in this tightly contested election, securing the orphan constituency for the NPP in a testament to his popularity and support.
