The Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF) has assured teacher trainees that the academic timetable will be adjusted to make up for lost time.
President of PRINCOF, Dr Samuel Atintono, made these comments following a demand by a coalition of concerned teacher trainees in the Ashanti Region for a temporary closure of the 46 colleges across the country due to the ongoing strike by their teachers.
The students say the industrial action is adversely impacting their academic progress and mental health. They also argued that their academic calendar has been jeopardised.
However, speaking on Joy FM’s Top Story on August 9, Dr Atintono said the teacher trainees should not worry about the calendar, as his organisation has a way of addressing it.
“For me, the issue that what do we do with the calendar and so, the calendar is entirely in the hands of PRINCOF. We know how to work around it with CETAG and they themselves and GTEC," he said.
