This week on Big Chef Tertiary, excitement brewed as contestants faced the Indomie Challenge along with a high-stakes starter course.
Despite the hype around transforming instant noodles into gourmet fare, contestants struggled to meet the judges’ expectations, resulting in a surprising and rather underwhelming display of creativity and skill.
The challenge which seemed simple at first, got contestants scrambling to incorporate unique flavours to elevate the beloved Indomie noodles into a sophisticated dish.
Some contestants tried to put their spin on classic recipes. Team TTU attempted a fusion-style Indomie with their beet pomodoro stir-fry with beet root and sauce to go with, but the flavors fell flat, leaving the judges disappointed.
Meanwhile, team HTU as star school for the previous week’s challenge, had the opportunity to not take up this task and just supervise the others on this episode’s challenge but known for their confidence and ambitious ideas, took a risk with an Okro purée based Indomie yet the texture didn’t hit the mark instead created a slimy texture that didn’t sit well with the dish leaving judges extremely disappointed.
Team KSTU ‘s beef Indomie with creamy curry sauce had potential but missed the mark with an overpowering kick that overshadowed other flavors.
Team BTU on the other failed to impress judges with their Indomie with Tama sauce and Chicken. Just to mention a few.
Despite some promising ideas, the overall impression was that no one fully captured the high standard the judges were looking for.
With lackluster feedback all around, the judges had to make a difficult decision on who would be leaving. Unfortunately, BTU’s dishes struggled the most, lacking both flavor balance and creative execution.
Team BTU was sent home in a bittersweet farewell, leaving a reminder to the other contestants that they would need to raise their game in the coming weeks.
