Equity Health Insurance has announced a new partnership with Video Med UK, unveiling a telemedicine platform aimed at enhancing healthcare access across Ghana.
The collaboration seeks to leverage technology to improve healthcare delivery, enabling Equity Health Insurance members to access medical consultations remotely via video and chat services.
The new telemedicine platform, launched at a ceremony in Cape Town, provides patients with access to a wide range of healthcare services, including virtual consultations, routine check-ups, and specialist referrals. This innovation is expected to significantly reduce barriers to healthcare, especially for residents in rural and underserved areas where access to healthcare facilities can be challenging.

Dr. Elton Fedrick Afari, CEO of Equity Health Insurance, emphasized the importance of this partnership. “Through this telemedicine platform, we aim to bridge the gap in healthcare access and affordability. Our goal is to ensure that every Ghanaian, regardless of location, can connect with quality healthcare professionals,” he said.
Video Med UK, a leader in telemedicine solutions across Europe, is set to bring its expertise and digital health solutions to this partnership, adapting their platform to meet the unique healthcare challenges in Ghana.
The telemedicine service will cover general medicine, mental health support, pediatrics, and emergency advice, allowing users to receive medical assistance without the need to visit a healthcare facility. Equity Health Insurance members can access the service through a mobile app, designed to be user-friendly and accessible for Ghanaians across all levels of digital proficiency.
Industry analysts note that this initiative aligns with the Ghanaian government’s agenda to digitize healthcare and enhance medical accessibility nationwide.
