Former France international Patrick Vieira has been appointed as the new head coach of Serie A club Genoa.
Patrick Vieira will sign his contract as new Genoa manager on Wednesday until June 2026 with an option for a further season following an announcement by the club.
The former Crystal Palace and Strasbourg manager, succeeds ex-Italy striker Alberto Gilardino, who had been in charge since December 2022.
"Genoa CFC announces that Patrick Vieira has been entrusted with the technical management of the first team," the club said in a statement.
"The new coach will direct the first training session this afternoon after the formalisation of the contract at the Villa Rostan headquarters."
Genoa sit 17th in the table, just one point above the relegation zone, with only two wins from twelve matches this season.
Vieira started his managerial career at Manchester City, taking charge of their Premier League Two side, before assuming his first senior post as head coach with Major League Soccer side New York City FC in January 2016.
His management career has taken him to New York City, Nice, Crystal Palace and his last job at Strasbourg which he left "by mutual agreement" in July.
