Bayer Leverkusen wing-back Jeremie Frimpong has revealed his plans to visit Ghana, his parents’ homeland, for the first time.
The 24-year-old Dutch-born to Ghanaian parents naturalised for the Netherlands after several attempts from Ghana’s FA was futile to have him play for the Black Stars.
The winger-back, ranked among the best in his role, has chopped some successes with Leverkusen’s in recent times.
“My parents are Ghanaian, and yeah, so every time I speak with my parents, it’s Twi. They taught me the language, so when I’m home, I speak Twi with them,” Frimpong said in an interview with Germany-based Nigerian reporter Oma Akatugba.

The 24-year-old disclosed that although he hasn’t been to Ghana yet, he intends to visit soon. “No, I have never been to Ghana before, but I will go,” he added.
When asked about his music preferences, Frimpong noted that he enjoys both Ghanaian and Nigerian music but holds Nigerian music in high regard.
“Both [I listen to Ghanaian and Nigerian music], but Nigerian music is top; they have too many good musicians,” he said.
