The government transition team and the Mahama transition team have issued contradictory statements regarding the handling of ongoing recruitment and payment activities during the transition period.
The government transition team, in a statement released after its second meeting on Friday, December 13, maintained that all ongoing recruitment and payment processes have received the required statutory approvals and are lawful.

They stated that the government’s mandate remains valid until midnight on January 6, 2025, and dismissed allegations that these actions should be suspended or referred to the transition committee.
The statement further clarified that specific allegations of illegality concerning any payment or recruitment should be brought to the attention of the transition committee for review.
The team urged the public to disregard claims suggesting that all ongoing payments and recruitment had been redirected to the transition team, stating that such assertions do not reflect the records of the meeting.
In contrast, the Mahama transition team in a statement issued on Friday, December 13, asserted that the joint transition team had agreed to address ongoing payments, recruitment, and related activities being undertaken by the outgoing administration.

It said both teams resolved that all significant actions of this nature must be submitted for review and approval on a case-by-case basis.
According to the Mahama transition team, this directive is intended to promote transparency, clarify the status of these activities, and ensure a fair process for resolving associated issues.
The team called on public officials to adhere strictly to the directive and resist undue pressures during the transition.
While the government transition team insists that its actions are legitimate and require no additional oversight, the Mahama transition team stresses the need for thorough review and approval of all significant decisions during this period.
