President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to establish a committee tasked with organising a National Constitutional Review Validation Conference.
The conference aims to build broad consensus on proposed amendments to the constitution as part of his administration’s commitment to strengthening Ghana’s justice system and addressing systemic inequalities.
Speaking at the 92nd Jalsa Salana of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission Ghana at Gomoa Pomadze in Winneba in the Central region, the President pointed out the need to advance the stalled constitutional review process to enhance judicial independence and promote fairness in the justice system.
“To this end, the new NDC administration is resolutely committed to strengthening our justice system. To achieve this, we must move the stalled constitutional review process forward,” he stated on Thursday, January 9.
Mr Mahama highlighted that the National Constitutional Review Validation Conference would serve as a platform to engage stakeholders, promote inclusivity, and ensure that any amendments reflect the collective aspirations of Ghanaians.

“I will soon establish a committee to plan a National Constitutional Review Validation Conference, allowing us to build broad consensus on the proposed constitutional amendments,” he affirmed.
The President reiterated his administration’s dedication to fostering a justice system where all citizens, regardless of status or background, are treated with dignity and fairness under the law.
“Justice and peace are the bedrock of our national aspirations, and as the Holy Quran reminds us, we are called to uphold justice even against ourselves.
“Justice must always not only be done but must be seen to be done and must be felt by all. Justice is a moral compass that must guide our every decision, every law, and every interaction in our nation.”
