The founder of the Tanko Foundation, Gabriel Kwamigah Tanko Kwabla Atokple, has extended a heartfelt gesture of compassion to shop owners who recently lost their businesses to a devastating fire outbreak at Ho in the Volta Region.
In a visit led by Selorm from the foundation, the team empathised with the affected traders and donated an undisclosed amount to alleviate their plight.
The fire, which occurred earlier this month, ravaged three shops along a stretch of the Ho business center, destroying merchandise worth thousands of Ghana cedis.
The tragedy has left many traders in financial despair, with some struggling to find means to rebuild their livelihoods.

Representatives of the Tanko Foundation visited the site of the tragedy on behalf of Gabriel Kwamigah Tanko Kwabla Atokple. The delegation, which included officials and volunteers of the foundation, toured the area to assess the extent of the damage and interact with the affected traders.
In a statement delivered during the visit, the leader of the delegation conveyed the founder’s deep sorrow over the incident.
"Our founder, Mr. Tanko Kwabla Atokple, has asked us to express his heartfelt sympathy to each and every one of you who has been affected by this fire. He recognizes the immense loss you have suffered," the spokesperson said.
The delegation presented an undisclosed amount of financial assistance to the victims.
The traders expressed their profound gratitude to the Tanko Foundation for the timely intervention. Many of them noted that the foundation's support was the first significant help they had received since the incident.
One of the affected shop owners shared her story, explaining how the fire had wiped out her entire stock of goods.
"I didn't know where to turn to after the fire. The visit and the support from the Tanko Foundation have given me hope that I can start afresh," she said, holding back tears.
The fire outbreak at Ho has reignited discussions about safety measures in public trading spaces. While the cause of the fire remains under investigation, experts have called for stricter fire safety protocols, regular inspections, and the installation of fire-fighting equipment in business districts to prevent such disasters in the future.
The compassionate gesture by the Tanko Foundation has brought a glimmer of hope to the traders, many of whom are struggling to come to terms with their losses. As they begin the process of rebuilding, the foundation's support stands as a reminder of the power of philanthropy in transforming lives.
