Three people have died following a fatal road crash involving a Toyota RAV4 and a Kia Picanto on the Kyebi–Asikam road in the Eastern Region.

The accident occurred on Monday, August 10, when the RAV4, with registration number CR 657-21, reportedly lost control, veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the Kia Picanto, registered GC 2066-19.

A six-member team from the Kibi Fire Station arrived at the scene at about 3:30pm and found the RAV4 severely damaged at the front, while the Kia Picanto had overturned into a pit.

Firefighters, assisted by onlookers, rescued the injured and transported them to the Kibi Government Hospital.

Two male occupants sustained injuries, while three occupants of the Kia Picanto were pronounced dead at the scene.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage in the crash, with the preliminary assessment indicating that the RAV4's loss of control led to the collision.
