The National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) has released the former Chairman of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) Board, Prof Christopher Ameyaw-Ekumfi.
Prof. Ameyaw-Ekumfi was detained on Sunday morning in connection with an investigation into financial matters during his tenure as the Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF).
New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, confirmed his release in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem.
Nana B, as he is popularly known, disclosed that Prof Ameyaw-Ekumfi was granted bail on Sunday evening.
However, he stated that a former Deputy National Service Authority (NSA) Director in charge of operations, Kwaku Ohene Djan, popularly known as Osonoba, who was also arrested, is still in custody.
“His lawyers are working to secure his bail this morning,” he added.
A group of men in three pickups reportedly stormed Prof. Ameyaw-Ekumfi’s home on Sunday morning and invited him to the NIB office.
He voluntarily followed them to the NIB head office and was subsequently taken to the NIB offices in Kawukudi, Accra.
