The Madina Technical Institute in the Greater Accra Region has been severely affected by Tuesday's rainstorm, which also impacted several parts of the national capital.

Classroom blocks and staff accommodation suffered significant damage, with roofs ripped off from virtually all the buildings.
The student dormitories were also severely affected.

In an interview with myjoyonline.com, the Senior House Mistress of the institute, Vida Talima, explained that the rainwater had damaged numerous learning and teaching materials, as well as the Principal's belongings, as her accommodation was also hit.

She expressed concern that with the school currently on vacation, the situation needs to be addressed before students return in two weeks.
The A&C Mall at East Legon appears to be one of the places hard hit by the storm, as a carport with solar panels as roofing collapsed on over 50 vehicles, damaging most.
The rainstorm caused widespread damage in other parts of the country as well.

Reports indicate that a young woman collapsed when an object struck her during the storm at Damongo in the West Gonja district. She is receiving medical treatment, while numerous properties, particularly houses, have been heavily impacted.
