A past student of Ngleshie Amanfro Senior High School (NASEC), Ms Deborah Chumasy, has launched an award scheme to support and motivate female students at the school.
The initiative, called the Best Performing Female Student Award, was officially introduced at an event held on the school campus.
Ms Chumasy, who was Girls’ Prefect from 2002 to 2005 and now runs De-Chum Networks LLC, said the award is her way of giving back to the school that helped shape her future.
“This school gave me the foundation I needed. It’s only right that I return to help build that same foundation for others, especially the girls, who need to see what’s possible when you believe in yourself and stay focused,” she told the gathering.

The award offers a full payment of admission and hall fees to any university or tertiary institution in Ghana.
The winner will also receive a brand-new laptop for academic work, an allowance to help with daily needs, and support in securing a full foreign scholarship. In addition, the recipient becomes an automatic member of De-Chum Networks LLC, which provides opportunities for mentorship, networking, and career development.
This is the first time such an award has been introduced at NASEC, and it is expected to inspire many female students to study harder and aim higher.
Aside from the award, De-Chum Networks also donated a modern All-in-One Epson Printer to the school. The printer, which can print, scan, and photocopy, is expected to improve the efficiency of academic and administrative work.
The Headmaster of NASEC, Mr Clement K. Apetu, expressed deep appreciation to Ms Chumasy and her organisation.

“We are profoundly grateful to Ms Chumasy for her visionary support. This award will not only motivate our female students but also transform lives. We hope that other old students will follow this shining example and contribute in whatever way they can to the growth of this school,” he said.
As part of the visit, the De-Chum Networks team held an interactive session with final-year students to share practical advice, study tips, and motivational insights.
Students were encouraged to prepare thoroughly for the upcoming West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and to believe in their ability to succeed.
Students and teachers at the school commended Ms Chumasy and said the launch of the Best Performing Female Student would promote female academic excellence at Ngleshie Amanfro SHS and would always remind them of the impact one former student can make.
