Security Intelligence Consultant Richard Kumadoe has urged the leadership of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) to undertake a comprehensive review of its operational tactics following a recent attack on its personnel.
According to him, frontline operatives require improved strategic approaches to entering and withdrawing from high-risk environments to avoid exposure to hostile elements, including aggressive bystanders and politically charged interference.
Mr. Kumadoe, who is also a fraud prevention expert, noted that reassessing operational methodologies would better safeguard officers, enhance security compliance, and ensure the effective execution of intelligence duties with speed, precision, and safety.
“In this way, security assurances and determinants will be carefully weighed against intrusive practices and potential entrapment or entanglement by hostile observers,” he told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Sege, adding that pre-planned preventive measures would minimise operational disruptions and strengthen field performance.
He emphasised the need for closer coordination among the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), the Ghana Police Service, and the media to support intelligence-led operations, particularly in politically sensitive environments where resistance to lawful enforcement actions might occur.
“The role of the BNI, police, and media remains critically important in curtailing and disrupting political interference and ensuring preventive security within the required timelines,” Mr. Kumadoe said.
He stressed that sustained collaboration and operational refinement would contribute to improved efficiency, safety, and public trust in security sector operations.
