Security consultant Richard Kumadoe has called on the Minister of the Interior, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, to step aside and allow individual security agencies to conduct their own recruitment exercises.
Speaking in an interview on Joy News’ The Pulse, Mr Kumadoe said the language, methodology, and process set by the Interior Minister have created widespread misunderstanding, miscommunication, and frustration among applicants.
He stressed that other agencies outside the Interior Ministry’s direct control have been conducting recruitment successfully.
“The BNI is recruiting people, EOCO might be recruiting people, the military is recruiting people, and they are doing it in line with standard procedure, and it doesn’t create any problem for anybody,” he noted.
According to Kumadoe, the current recruitment chaos is not a problem with the security agencies themselves but the centralised process and mismanagement from the minister’s office. He urged the government to allow each agency to manage its recruitment independently.
“The language the Minister of Interior used, and the approach he set in place, is what has created this public uproar and what has created the judgment that is affecting him and his government.
“I am urging the Minister to step aside and allow the agencies to do their recruitment, and we will be fine. This should serve as a lesson to all politicians, whether those in power now or those out of power,” he said.
The consultant further criticised what he described as “ineptitude, arrogance, and lack of resourcefulness,” saying these qualities have contributed to the country’s current administrative challenges.
Mr Kumadoe’s remarks come amid mounting public pressure over the security services recruitment exercise, which has seen nearly half a million applicants compete for roughly 5,000 available positions, leaving many young Ghanaians frustrated and demanding accountability.
