An outbreak of extreme violence between rival youth factions early Friday morning has shattered the peace in the Ahafo Ano South West District, resulting in the brutal deaths of two individuals and leaving a third person in critical condition.
The deadly confrontation, which occurred at approximately 3:00 a.m. on November 14, 2025, took place in Mpaasaaso Number 2, escalating already simmering tensions between residents of Mpaasaaso Number 1 and Mpaasaaso Number 2.
The motive behind the specific clash remains unconfirmed, but community leaders reveal this is not an isolated incident.
The youth leader of Mpaasaaso Number 2, Kwadwo Asare, confirmed the deep-seated nature of the violence in an interview on Friday, November 14.
He recalled a clash two years ago at Baniekrom, where three people were shot dead.
This latest incident, where two more lives were lost, tragically brings the number of fatalities linked to these local rivalries to five within the span of just two years.
In a highly significant allegation, Mr. Asare claimed that one of the individuals killed in the predawn skirmish was a man known locally only as 'Commander One.'
This individual is believed to have been a key figure in the community’s rising criminality.
Mr. Asare further alleged that a man known only as Commander One, believed to have been training young men involved in violent acts, including beating residents and issuing threats, was among those killed in Thursday’s dawn clash.
The alleged death of a figure tied to organised violence suggests the latest confrontation may have been a high-stakes, internal power struggle or a retaliatory attack, rather than a random brawl.
The police have launched a full-scale investigation to identify the perpetrators and establish the immediate cause of the deadly feud. However, as of the time of reporting, no arrests have been made.
The ongoing cycle of violence raises serious concerns regarding the prevalence of illegal arms, gang activity, and the effectiveness of local security infrastructure in the Ahafo Ano South West District. The confrontation has heightened fears of further retaliatory attacks, demanding an urgent, decisive intervention from regional security forces to restore stability and prevent the deepening of the community-wide conflict.
The victim in critical condition has been rushed to a nearby medical facility, with updates on their status awaited.
