Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, has expressed his satisfaction with the government’s Big Push programme, emphasising its importance for improving the transportation of farm produce across Ghana.
Speaking at the 41st Ghana National Farmers’ Day celebration in Ho on Friday, December 5, Togbe Afede noted that he was impressed when he first learned of the $10 billion investment into the programme.
He said he is further encouraged to see that the initiative has continued to receive substantial funding.
“I was happy when I first heard about the $10 billion commitment, and I am super happy to know that so far over $10 billion has been invested. This is a major step in developing our road infrastructure and facilitating the movement of farm produce from our communities to markets,” he said.
The Asogli traditional leader highlighted that reliable road networks are critical for farmers to deliver their goods efficiently, reduce post-harvest losses, and improve their incomes.
“The Big Push programme will transform agriculture in Ghana by making it easier to transport crops, livestock, and fish to buyers, while also stimulating local economies along these routes,” he added.
Togbe Afede called on Ghanaians to support government initiatives like the Big Push, noting that modern roads and infrastructure are key to national development and boosting food security.
