A media consultant and Communications Lecturer at the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS), Mr Richard Quashigah, who is aspiring to be the National Propaganda Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has promised to re-brand the party to consolidate its gains in 2012.
He pledged to re-double his efforts at ensuring that the party was placed in a position that would negate the vile campaign of its opponents and get the positive messages across.
Mr Quashigah, who was part of the NDC's communications campaign team for the 2008 elections, whose membership included a Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr Fiifi Kwetey, and the Minister of Trade and Industry, Ms Hannah Tetteh, said the party needed a propaganda secretary who could build on Mr Kwetey's legacies.
He said he had been a strong voice for the party in the last elections and would continue to do that to get everybody to appreciate NDC and believe in its capability of creating a better Ghana for all.
Mr Quashigah said there was a need for the NDC to step up its moves towards galvanising all its leading members to keep abreast of persuasive communication skills in order to build stronger communication networks at constituency and regional levels.
He said the party needed a personality who was capable of using contemporary communications in a clear and consistent manner, which would resonate with the foot soldiers of the NDC and also give the party a fresh image capable of securing a resounding victory in 2012.
Mr Quashigah, who was a radio broadcaster with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), said the party's opponents had been able to distort the party's messages, thereby causing disaffection among some of the party faithful.
He debunked claims that propaganda was about churning out false information, claiming that even the disciples of Jesus Christ were said to be propagating the word of God and that this was not about spreading false gospel.
Be said the word 'propaganda' got its negative description during the Nazi Germany, but what the NDC propaganda secretary did was to send persuasive messages to its rank and file in order to mobilise them for progressive party work.
Mr Quashigah, currently on nationwide campaign trail, promised to also, support the government information structure so as to inform Ghanaians about the progressive policies and programmes of the Mills administration.
