The Nkoranza District Secretariat of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has recorded severe rainstorm that destroyed buildings in some communities in the area.
At Manso, Mr. Opoku Darko Munufie, zonal coordinator of NADMO, said three classrooms of the Methodist Primary School had their roofs ripped off.
Mr. Jackson Munufie, head teacher of the school, said he had informed the District Directorate of Education and the District Assembly about the disaster and called for the rehabilitation of the classrooms.
"If immediate action is not taken, more than 120 pupils will have to study under trees when school re-opens", he said.
Miss Constance Nana Konadu, Yefri zonal coordinator of NADMO, said seven buildings at Tanko, including the chief's palace and three buildings and some high-tension electricity lines at Yefri were all destroyed by the disaster.
She appealed to the Volta River Authority to replace the electricity lines so that the people could have power for socio-economic activities.
At Kranka, Mr. Abdulai Yaw Adu, an official of NADMO, reported that three buildings were destroyed as a result of a torrential rainfall.
A report from the NADMO office at Nkoranza indicated that more than 120 persons have been displaced by a rainstorm in the area.
Meanwhile, Mr. Benson Boadum Acheampong, the Nkoranza District NADMO coordinator, said the organization was arranging for relief items for the affected people.
