EKGS Culinary Institute a hospitality services and training organization in Ghana has been awarded by the West African Regional Magazine at an awards ceremony in Nigeria.
The awards instituted 4years ago by the West African Magazine seeks to recognize and appreciate outstanding personalities or corporate bodies in the region who have, in their fields of endeavor. stood out in excellence, and also to challenge others to strive for the top in their chosen vocations.
The company won the outstanding culinary organization in West Africa award whiles the Director and Founder of the Institute Mrs Efua Otuwa Goode Obeng Kyei was honored with top Culinary Business Personality award.
The citation accompanying the award reads: This is in recognition of your significant contribution to the culinary Industry through groundbreaking catering services for many years now. Therefore, you are deserving of this special recognition for your immense contributions to society and for achievements in the culinary sector of West Africa.
Mrs Obeng Kyei says hard work, determination, commitment and perseverance accounted for the institute’s achievement.

She said the school supports students with tools to enable them set up their own businesses as soon they complete as part of school’s commitment to fight against poverty in Ghana.
She advised the youth to be serious and also follow their passion to enable them choose the right profession.
Since its inception 18 years ago the institute has groomed many people who are cake instructors.
However the school explored another opportunity to get accreditation to run a diploma course in British style of cake designing.
EKGS Culinary Institute’s introduction of Wilton and PME courses in Ghana, which are considered amongst the best, trains students in Ghana and across the sub-region, who are equally contributing their quota to the various hotels and industries.
The institute, which started as a culinary service provider was primarily offering catering service to the Ghanaian public.
EKGS Culinary Institute has had quality product brands as it flagship and the transformation of this establishment from a traditional culinary service provider to a total culinary service provider (training and service provider) stems from this unique feature.
As a result of the unique and extraordinary service, its extensive clientele called for the provision of culinary training.
The institute currently runs a three- year training development program which involves training of in-house staff to meet standards.
The institute runs a comprehensive training package with tuition that cuts across the following courses:
CAKE MAKING AND DECORATING WITH SUGAR ART/ Wilton (USA) PME(UK) Diploma Courses
PASTRY ART
COOKERY ART
FLORAL, BALLOON AND RIBBON DÉCOR
WILTON (USA)
PME (UK)
The institute has attracted students from the Sub-region and has provided top-notch chefs and cuisine staff for the nation’s top hotels and other cuisine houses.
The institute now has a graduating class of students and has trained over 5,000 students both within and outside the country.
It is worthy to note that the institute runs these courses within a stream of six months. The course is ran under an intensive scheme and course curriculum is subjected to a review annually to meet international standards.
