The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has voiced strong confidence in Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s capacity to lead Ghana, should she be presented as a presidential candidate in the 2028 general elections.
Mr Iddrisu suggested that the Vice President stands out as a credible choice for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), citing her experience in public service and her current role at the highest level of government.
According to him, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s position as Vice President, combined with her personal qualities and track record, positions her well to assume national leadership if the opportunity arises.
“She’s the Vice President of the Republic, and arguably, given her standing, she’s very capable of leading the country. I have worked very closely with her, and 2028 is still far away,” he noted in an interview with Channel One TV.
Mr Iddrisu further described the Vice President as a unifying figure within the NDC, saying she has the temperament and leadership style needed to keep the party cohesive while offering clear direction.
He stressed that although the next election is still some years away, Prof Opoku-Agyemang’s ability to inspire confidence and maintain party unity makes her a strong potential leader for both the party and the nation.
