Black Maidens keeper, Kayza Massey, has expressed her excitement at having the opportunity to wear the national jersey and represent Ghana at the world stage.
According to the 15 year old goalkeeper who was raised in Canada, it was a great chance to learn, grow and learn more about the Ghanaian culture.
“It was an amazing experience getting to know all the other ladies who have great talents and are creative. I had no challenge and there was no language barrier because all the ladies could speak good English.”
The keeper who played all four games for Ghana conceded eight goals. However, she felt hard done by the last goal she conceded which saw the Maidens knocked out of the competition.
“Minutes before the kick, the referee blew her whistle and I was looking on to see why she did only to realize the kick has been converted and allowed to stand as goal.”
The young keeper who alongside her colleagues are still in a hotel awaiting per diems for the Ministry of Sports was tight lipped about the situation stating that it is not in her place to talk about that.
In her view, all she cared about was the opportunity to be given the chance to play soccer and for Ghana.
