Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, the Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Finance and Administration, has advised GIMPA graduates to master the construction of digital tools in their fields of disciplines to be competitive in the field of work.

She said modern ICT tools like AI coding and robotics would make them competent and exceptional ahead of their peers in the job market.

Nana Bampoe Addo said this at the weekend during the 26th Congregation of Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) in Accra for graduate and undergraduate students.

She encouraged the graduates to leverage on the knowledge acquired from GIMPA but stay alert to technology disruptions.

“Learn to build, not merely to consume. The world is shifting from mechanical thinking towards systems that run themselves, tracking performance, forecasting markets, and managing entire administrative functions on autopilots,” she said.

She urged the graduates to guard their creativity, their talents, their passion, and their originality, stressing, “Do not let a tool replace your thinking, only extend it as a support.”

Nana Oye Addo said no digital ambition survives without safety, underscoring the government’s intervention to match innovation with protection.

“The cybersecurity authority has sustained operations against cybercrime networks, arresting scores of suspects in coordinated actions with the Ghana Police Service,” she said.

She said the government had treated technology as a pillar of national strategy and not as an afterthought.

“Through the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation, the country has launched Ghana’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2025 to 2035, built on eight pillars from education to public sector deployment.”

She said the launch of the National AI Fund, beginning with Ghc 5 billion and scaling to Ghc 50 billion by 2035. We have a planned $250 million National AI Computing Center, which will be the next center for research and enterprise.

The government, she stated, had extended AI training with support from the United Nations Development Planning, which had been extended to ministers, with performance indicators now tracking digital adoption across the sectors.

“We also have a curriculum review committee introducing coding, robotics, and AI from the basic school level,” she said.

Prof Samuel Kwaku Bonsu, Rector of GIMPA, urged the students to strive to keep the spirit and image of the institution in their endeavours.

“Be the best ambassadors of GIMPA; we are here to support you and the nation as a whole,” he said.

The Rector announced that the institute was finalizing the building of a 3,000-seator stadium for sports activities.

Ms Samuela Amma Boakye-Appiah, the overall best graduating student, said the achievement was a testament to the goodness of God.

Ms Boakye-Appiah, who graduated with a Master of Laws degree in International Criminal Law and Justice, said the graduates had been transformed and equipped by solid teaching to impact society positively.

He commended the management of GIMPA for moulding and sharpening their minds and pledged to carry these values with ethical responsibility.
