Kwesi Appiah suffered his first defeat in second stint as Black Stars manager after Mexico beat Ghana by a lone goal in Houston on Wednesday night.
With their team A gearing up for a FIFA Confederations Cup semi-final against the reigning world champions, Germany, in Sochi, Mexico's "B" team held its own to claim victory despite the Black Stars putting up an impressive showing at the NRG stadium.
Elias Hernandez’s first half strike settled the contest in favour of El Tri, much to the delight of North American fans present but few Ghanaian fans who made the trip felt disappointed.
Appiah gave several players on the fringes of the squad the chance to impress before the 37,617 fans who watched the game at the stadium.
The Black Stars fluffed five scoring chances with Frank Acheampong, Majeed Waris and Rahpael Dwamena all had the opportunities of drawing the West Africans level.
