The founder of Agric firm Agro Mindset says a fair justice system is crucial for the creation of a good business environment that will encourage a lot more young persons to venture into entrepreneurship as a sustainable form of employment.
David Asare Asiamah notes a strengthened justice system will also encourage business minded persons to take risks that will in the long term inure to the benefit of the economy in general.
“A just legal system will encourage entrepreneurs to do more, create more businesses and take better risks. Law allows the private sector to plan for the future.
"A good legal system facilitates the creation of entrepreneurial opportunities by emboldening entrepreneurs to act,” Mr Asiamah noted when he joined other distinguished personalities for a panel discussion on investments and law at the World Justice Forum in The Hague, Netherlands.
He explained that effective rule of law is the sure way to get business persons to play their role in helping create more jobs for the teeming unemployed youth.
“In an era of jobless growth, the way to create more jobs is to create more businesses. When entrepreneurs are motivated to think and make ideas a reality due to security and the presence of the rule of law, the entrepreneurial cycle is strengthened and the entrepreneurship society expands,” he noted.
Mr. Asare Asiamah pointed out that in an era of a jobless growth, with many startups, people must be able to count on norms and procedures to make relationships stable and equitable.
He says the rule of law is an anchor that ensures predictability, and an engine that encourages the peaceful resolution of conflicts. He added: “law allows the private sector to plan for the future.”
Also present on the panel were Dr. Salaheddin Al-Bashir, Former Minister of Justice of Jordan; Ms. Cate Ambrose, President and Executive Director, Latin American Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (Spain); Mr. Minhaj Chowdhury, CEO/Co-Founder, Drinkwell (Bangladesh) and Ms. Christina Pak, Counsel of the Asian Development Bank, Philippines.
The panel discussed the topic: “Enabling Investment and Innovation: The Critical Role of the Rule of Law.”
Mr. Asare Asiamah advocated increased education on the need for all to respect the rule of law to help entrepreneurs stay in business.
The World Justice Forum is the premier international event for the rule of law. Global and community leaders from an array of sectors and interests come together to share insights, explore strategies, and develop solutions for advancing peace, equity, and opportunity.
Speakers discussed the critical role of the rule of law in unleashing the power of investment, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Mr. Asare Asiamah noted there is the need for the court system to ensure cases brought to its attention over business transactions that have gone bad, are dealt with timely and expeditiously.
He said there is the need for the police to be firm and fair in its duty and avoid any acts that will endanger public confidence in them.
