Staff of MTN in Ghana on Thursday embarked on a series of community development activities to mark this year's annual "21 Days of Yello Care" instituted by the MTN Group.
Employees of MTN from all regional offices around the country converged in Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi painted and landscaped schools selected by the Ghana Education Service.
It is planning a health walk for the employees on August 18, this year during which they would interact with the public and create awareness about healthy lifestyles and the importance of exercising as part of support for a Ghana Health Service advocacy campaign on healthy living, a statement the MTN issued in Accra said.
The 21 days of "Y'ello Care" programme seeks to encourage staff on MTN in Ghana and across its global operations to become personally involved in community-development project outside the scope of the MTN foundation and other MTN Corporate Social Responsibility 9CSR) initiatives.
The three-week programme is carried out annually in all 21 countries in which MTN operates in Africa and the Middle East.
It also offers the MTN staff the opportunity to participate in community improvement exercises and to reaffirm the inherent value of support to community development projects particularly for the less privileged in society.
Ms Mawuena Dumor, Corporate Services Executive (CSE) for the Ghana Operating Unit said, "We are excited about the Y'ello Care good corporate citizenship exercise.
"It will foster MTN teamwork values among staff through a proactive Employee Volunteer Association and build relationships with our communities".
