The nation could be deprived of good leaders in future if parents do not change their lukewarm attitude towards the proper upbringing of their children, the Reverend Professor Emmanuel Asante, Head of the Religious Department of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has said.
He said it was regrettable the crave for money and wanton materialistic tendencies that most parents exhibited had resulted in a situation where majority of children lacked parental care and attention.
Rev Prof Asante was speaking at the maiden mass wedding ceremony of the Dunwell Methodist Church at Dichemso in Kumasi at the weekend.
In all 25 couples participated in the ceremony that was held under the auspices of the New Tafo Circuit of the Methodist Church of Ghana.
He appealed to parents to devote much of their time and resources towards their children's education and training to help in nurturing them to be responsible adults in future.
Rev Prof Asante appealed to other branches of the Methodist Church to encourage mass weddings to save time and cost.
