A circuit court at Dormaa Ahenkro has remanded Solomon Norbet, a computer student into prison custody till September 21 for allegedly stealing three mobile phones and an unspecified sum of money from a drinking spot at Dormaa-Ahenkro.
His plea was not taken.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Matthew K. Yeboah told the court presided by Mr. Justice Vincent Carl Senu that on August 12, a drinking bar operator placed a bag containing two cellular phones and an unspecified amount of money on the counter at the drinking spot while a third phone was on charge.
Chief Inspector Yeboah said the bar owner went briefly to his dinning hall but on his return he saw the accused emerging from behind the counter.
He realized that the cellular phone on charge had been removed and when he searched his bag he found that the contents were also gone.
The prosecutor said the bar owner questioned the accused who denied that he had taken anything from the bar.
When he was searched one of the phones was found on him and he admitted the offence, saying he had given one of the phones to a friend.
