Mr Victor Tetteh, Director of the High Intelligence Quotient Education Consultancy Centre (HIQECC) in Tema, has observed that the development of children could not be accomplished by mothers and teachers alone but the concerted efforts and support of stakeholders in the society.
Mr Tetteh made the observation at the 10th Graduation of National Nursery Teachers' Training Certificate Course organised for 49 Day Care Attendants in Tema.
The programme introduced in the municipality in 1997, has provided opportunities for many untutored Day Care Developers and Attendants to receive professional training.
During the eight-week period, the participants were taken through Child Psychology, Early Childhood Development and New Methods of Teaching.
Mr Tetteh said when parents and guardians recognised the rights and privileges of the child; they could seek the services of trained early childhood developers, such as day care attendants.
Mrs Margaret Mavis Sackey, Head teacher of Padmore Street Number Two Primary School in Tema and a Resource Person urged stakeholders in education to take active interest in the training of children.
Mrs Doris Afi Asmah, Course Prefect, gave the assurance that they would make good use of the acquired knowledge and experience to help make childhood education delightful and enjoyable.
The participants were presented with certificates and an exhibition on teaching aids and materials on the course was mounted.Source: GNA
