What was intended to be a peaceful dialogue among movie stakeholders in Kumasi ended in a heated argument between popular actor Kofi Adu and some film makers.
The stakeholders' meeting held at the Kumasi Culture Center on March 20, was to find solutions to revamp the Kumawood industry.
Agya Koo as he is popularly known claimed alongside some key personalities in the creative arts industry have been tasked to expedite action on resolving the challenges in the industry.
Bragging about his recently launched Agya Koo TV, the popular actor urged all movie producers to form an alliance to aid in creating one platform where all locally made movies would be uploaded.
He added that this technology initiative is key to reviving the ailing film industry and support producers to recoup the huge sums of money they invest in their movies.
However, some of the producers and directors were not in support of Agya Koo’s digitization initiative.
“Once we as filmmakers don’t have control over the search engine it becomes so difficult for the movies to be popular.
"We did a research to look out for online websites where Ghanaian movies are uploaded and we had 623 websites but the money doesn’t come to the owners of these movies,” one of the producers told Agya Koo.
