The Eastern Regional Coordinating Council and the State of Nevada in the United States have signed a Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening trade relations.

The investments ties will be in the areas of mining, agriculture, renewable energy, education and tourism.

Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Dafuor announced this at a meeting with the Nevada trade mission led by the State Governor, Brian Sandoval in Accra.

He indicated that, the MoU is expected to pave the way for further discussions and signing of deals that would cement a permanent relationship between Ghana and Nevada.

Mr. Dafuor said the Eastern region is very rich in resources and a lot of arable lands which when tapped could accelerate Ghana’s development.

For his part, Brian Sandoval was elated since the visit is the first trade mission from a state in the United States to visit Ghana.

He noted that, the trade mission from Nevada is ready to collaborate with the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council to create opportunities to the benefits of their people.

“Considering the fact that mining is the number one industry in Nevada, there are opportunities in there, as well as in the areas of tourism, renewable energy, education, water and agriculture” he added.

Mr. Sandoval added that, because the visit to Ghana as historic, they remain committed to ensure a fruitful partnership with the Eastern region.

"There is a solid foundation in Ghana for a growing relationship based on innovation and trade to the mutual benefit of Ghanaians and Nevadans and I am pleased to have played a part in helping continue discussions" the Nevada Governor stated.

He used the occasion to officially invite official of the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council to Nevada for further deliberations.
