The Human Rights Court in Accra has adjourned the case brought against the Electoral Commission by the National Democratic Party to 16 November 2012.
This is to allow the NDP amend a motion for the application.
The court action follows the disqualification of the party’s flagbearer Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings by the EC from contesting the December polls on account of errors on her nomination form.
Joy News’ Anny Osabutey was in court and reported the NDP lawyer, Stanley Ahorlu as saying they were not privy to information that will help their case so they prayed the court to adjourn so they would amend their application.
The court granted their plea for adjournment.
Ahorlu told Osabutey shortly after the hearing that he is confident the court will hear their case and rule on their favour. He is not perturbed at all about how close the elections are.
He did not however say what new information upon which they have come and on the basis of which they requested the adjournment is.
“Time cannot run. Time will stop. We will pursue [it]. We are absolutely confident we will get judgment in our favour,” he said.
