Youth for Leadership in Ghana, a movement to honour, uphold and project the legacy of Former President, John Jerry Rawlings has been formed.
Mr Abebakar Musa Sadic, National Chairman of the Movement, inaugurating the Ashanti Regional branch in Kumasi, said the movement was not a youth group or wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) but a nationalist movement by those who see the legacy of Former President Rawlings worth preserving and emulating.
He explained that the idea to establish the movement was conceived among a group of people in 2006 and its goal was to promote, sustain and perpetuate the ideals of Former President Rawlings.
Mr Sadic said the movement would establish a library to serve as a resource centre and a museum gallery to preserve monuments on Former President Rawlings.
Mr Sacut Amenga-Etego, National Secretary of the Movement said they were amazed at the age at which Former President Rawlings intervened with exceptional courage-volunteering his entire life for social justice.
He said the youth of Ghana must be progressive, follow the road that would lead to social justice and urged them to support the movement to celebrate the nation’s legends.
Mr Amenga-Etego noted that this was the only way to ensure selflessness and people-centeredness in leadership for Ghana in future.
The 13-member Ashanti Regional branch has Mr Abdul Rafui as Chairman, Mr Felli Emmanuel Kwesi, Secretary, Mr Adam Iddrisu Kachipreboare, Organizer, Mr Yakubu Sulemana, Financial Secretary and Ajara Mohammed, Women Organizer.Source: GNA
