Two of Ghana’s hi-life greats, A.B. Crentsil and Ben Brako have promised to treat patrons at this year’s Joy FM Hi-Life Dance Party to a lot of surprises, some never seen before. The event is scheduled for The Place at the Trade Fair Centre, La on Friday, December 2, and it has on the bill some, if not all of Ghana’s all time hi-life greats, Paapa Yankson, Nana Tuffour, A.B. Crentsil, Ben Brako and Ofori Amponsah. The event is being put together by super station, Joy 99.7 FM, as a perfect holiday gift aimed at rekindling the good old days of quality hi-life music in a unique style. While A.B. Crentsil is promising his iconic dondo on stage, another hi-life gem, Ben Brako, is promising a new, unique dance that will light up the stage. Interestingly, Ben Brako acquired that new dance from A.B. Crentsil, raising interest if patrons will be seeing the two do that mysterious dance together. Speaking on the Super Morning Show Thursday with Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, the elated Ben Brako entreated fans to come and “expect something special because this is a dance and so many artistes are there and therefore everyone is going to give of their best and I am hoping to give of my best.” He hinted; “I have some very special steps which Uncle A.B. (A.B. Crentsil) keeps and wherever I am doing a special show then he gives me. He says ‘Hei, take these steps and go and perform with it’, so he has told me that tomorrow (Friday) is special.” He wants the fans to come see the dance. Ben Brako holds a BA in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ghana and a BA in Media Communication Studies from East London University. With about three decades of music experience in his belt, he simply 'flows' and surely the night promises to be the best yet. Known for serenading sounds such as Mawie, Meko Mekrom, Etuei and Anokum, an all-night long dance is sure on the cards. Alfred Benjamin Crentsil Jnr. better known as A.B. Crentsil is another Westerner who has also equally paid his dues to Ghanaian music. He is one passionate personality who also has over three decades of experience to his credit. He is still evergreen whenever he is called upon to deliver; there is no record of him failing – and trust him once more not to fail. Among his long list of hits are Angelina, Anyen, Adam and Eve, I Go Pay Tomorrow, Aboa Onidua and the very controversial Moses.
