The Greater Accra Regional Branch of the Convention People’s Party CPP, has elected a Tema-based business man, George Nana Boadi as chairman, to lead the party in the region for the next four years.
The new chairman and his team of regional executives were sworn in by Chairman and Leader of the CPP, Ladi Nylander, on Friday night, at the end of the party’s regional conference held at the Great Hall of the Accra Polytechnic.
Madam Thelma Lamptey, was elected first vice chair with the party’s former regional youth organiser, Richard Nii Oshiu Cudjoe picking second vice chairman unopposed.
Paul Kwamena Anaman, a former regional organiser was elected Secretary.
The Women’s Organiser position was also keenly contested among three women; Kate Quaye, Adisah Issah and Edwina Ayorkor Okuadjo. When the votes were counted the presiding electoral officer, Michael Boadu, declared Kate Quaye as winner with 87 votes, while Edwina Okuadjo and Adisah Issah obtained 80 and 69 votes respectively.
Secretary to the CPP communications team, Michael Kwamena–Sam, was elected regional treasurer. Other members of the new executive include Isaac Oteng, youth organiser, Koo Mensah–Frempong , regional organiser and Richard Nat Nyanyo, education secretary.
Shortly after the swearing in, the new regional chairman declared: “I am determined to work closely with my team, in collaboration with all others in the months ahead to build on the achievements of the region in the last few years to deliver Greater Accra in the 2012 elections”.
Nana Boadi, has over the years organized and raised funds for the Tema East and West, Ashiaman and Kpone Katamanso constituencies of the party, among others. As a member of the national communications team, Nana Boadi has been a strong voice of the party in the media. He is a regular representative of the CPP on Adom FM and TV Africa.
