The Accra Ring Road Central (RCC)branch of Rotary Club in partnership with the Rotary Club of Nykobeng, Denmark has organized a medical outreach programme for patients at the Maamobi general hospital in Accra. The medical outreach estimated at GH¢5,000 was funded through fundraising activities is in fulfillment of the club’s dedication to assisting the underprivileged in society. The medical outreach is in memory of their past president Sophia Twum-Barima who passed away in December 2012. According to the club, Sophia was very passionate about the well-being and health of local communities as demonstrated through her work with the World Health Organization in Ghana. The doctors and nurses at hospital screened patients as well as residences of Maamobi and it environs for high blood pressure, blood sugar level, breast screening, HIV test and malaria. The beneficiaries were given free health review and free drugs for the treatment of malaria. President of the club, Phyllis Mawuse Nyahe indicated that the medical outreach is an essential component of RRC’s annual work programme and an indication of the club’s firm commitment to serve communities. She promised the club’s commitment to assist the hospital in any way they can to be able to work effectively. Phyllis Nyahe thanked the dynamic Rotary Club of Nykobeng, Denmark for their partnership and hoped their friendship will prevail for a long time.
