Advans Ghana Savings and Loans Ltd marked International Women’s Day 2026 with a series of impactful outreach activities designed to celebrate, empower, and support women and girls across its communities. Under the theme “Give to Gain” — a rallying call that reflects the institution’s belief that investing in women today yields stronger communities tomorrow — Advans Ghana organised two major initiatives in Accra: a school outreach programme targeting young girls, and a free health screening exercise for women in the Okaishie community. The activities were carried out in partnership with Maiden En Agape, an NGO dedicated to girl-child empowerment and women’s welfare across Ghana.

The school outreach took Advans Ghana’s senior female leaders to Unity Cluster of Schools, where they engaged students in mentorship sessions aimed at inspiring the next generation of female leaders. The institution’s Chief Sales & Distribution Officer opened the girls’ eyes to the world of finance, explaining the breadth of opportunities within the financial services sector and encouraging them to pursue their ambitions with confidence.

The Chief Legal Officer and Chief Human Resource Officer also took the floor, each sharing their personal journeys through the professional world — the obstacles they faced, the milestones they achieved, and the determination that carried them forward. Their candid accounts gave the girls a real-world perspective on resilience and ambition.

Alongside the mentorship sessions, sanitary pads were donated to the schoolgirls, complemented by education on menstrual hygiene and personal development. The combination of practical support and knowledge-sharing was designed to build both the confidence and the everyday wellbeing of the young women in attendance.

Advans Ghana extended its IWD activities into the wider community through a free health screening exercise for 100 women at Okaishie. The initiative provided participants with access to basic health checks and medical advice, underscoring the organisation’s commitment to the holistic wellbeing of the women it serves — not just as customers, but as pillars of their communities.

“When we invest in girls today, we gain stronger women and stronger communities tomorrow. That is the true meaning of Give to Gain.”

— Barbara Odei, Chief Sales and Distribution Officer, Advans Ghana

Advans Ghana expressed appreciation to Maiden En Agape and their CEO, Abena Opeibea Anie-Budu, for their collaboration and shared commitment to empowering girls and women across Ghana. Looking ahead, Advans Ghana reaffirmed its dedication to deepening its gender empowerment programmes as a core pillar of its broader social responsibility agenda, recognising that supporting women and girls today creates lasting social and economic impact for all.
