Mrs Hajara Ali, former president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Women's Association (AMWA) Ghana, said at the weekend that it was important for all Muslims, especially Ahmadi's, to acquire knowledge that would make an impact on society. Mrs Ali said to create an impact on societal development, the Muslim woman should have the desire to seek for knowledge and the passion to serve mankind as stated in the Holy Quran. "The best charity on the part of a Muslim woman is to acquire knowledge and to impact it on others in the society" she noted. Mrs Ali was speaking at the climax of a two-day conference organised by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Women's Association, Greater Accra, on the theme "The Pius Woman: Her Role in Societal Development" in Accra. A pius Muslim woman would always lead exemplary lives for others to follow, she said, and urged the women to work towards that. Mrs Ali called on all Muslims to play lead roles in their communities and encourage their children to attain higher levels of education for the development of Muslim communities. Mrs Sarah Bonsu, former National President of AMWA, said the success of every religious organisation depended on the knowledge base of its members. She said it was very important for all Muslims to be abreast with the teachings of Islam and be able to train their children properly. Mrs Bonsu said the annual conferences were organised for members to reflect on the teachings and the practices of the prophet Mohammed, so as to strengthen them in all other endeavours. She advised members to keep on praying to increase their understanding of the religion. They should also try as much as possible to be responsible mothers. Source: GNA
