The 2012 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, Monday continued his tour of the Eastern region with visits to communities in the Aburi/ Nsawam constituency.
Obviously excited to see him, men and women, young and old, abandoned everything to follow him, shake hands and interact with him, bringing all commercial activity to a halt.
The people complained about increasing hardships, high cost of living, no jobs for the youth, inability to pay their children's school fees and inadequate educational and health facilities in their various communities and the collapsing of social interventions that were introduced by the NPP government.
They promised to vote massively for Nana Akufo-Addo in 2012 so that the NPP can come back to power.
“The NDC government has showed within the nearly three years that they've been in power that they don't have any idea how to make our lives better. Rather, our lives have gotten worse since they came to power in 2009."
Nana Addo visited communities such as Kitase, Gyankama, Aburi, Pokrom, Nsawam and Adoagyiri.
He interacted with residents, toured markets, met with leadership of commercial driver groups and also paid courtesy calls on the various chiefs and elders in these communities.
On his part, Nana Addo thanked the people for the massive support showed him, assuring them that his visit to their communities will not be in vain.
He said he remained committed to his vision of leading a government that will provide free senior high school education for the youth.
Nana Addo also spoke about programmes to be put in place for job creation and the need to empower the youth and people to be able to live dignified lives adding that "these two, education and job creation are the two key issues that will be at the heart of my presidency, God willing when we come back."
