About seven bodyguards of the New Patriotic Party flag-bearer for the 2008 Presidential election, Nana Akufo-Addo, Thursday allegedly stormed the party’s regional office at Asylum down just after the end of the Ghana Nigeria match to brutalize one of the staff and injuring several others for allegedly insulting their boss.
The staff, Seth Opoku, narrating the incident to ASEMPA NEWS said, he was in the office with other colleagues rejoicing when some men he identified as Nana Akufo-Addo’s bodyguards walked into the office with harmful weapons to attack him.
According to him, before he could find answers to their numerous interrogating questions, they pounced on him and started beating him whilst holding cutlass to frighten other party members not to rescue him.
He said, it took the timely intervention of some of the party supporters around to rescue him.
A former NPP Parliamentary candidate for the Odododiodio Constituency in the 2008 election, Mr. Adjei Sowa who was present at the time the incident occurred speaking in an interview with ASEMPA NEWS at the NIMA Police station where the case was later reported confirmed the incident and said the party would later address the issue.
Press aide to Nana Akufo-Addo, Herbert Krapa when contacted confirmed that their outfit has received the sad incident, and hoped the law takes its course since the matter is in the hands of the Police.
