Joyce Bawah Mogtari, the Special Aide to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, has condemned President Akufo-Addo's recent comments made during his visit to the Upper East Region, labelling them as “utterly mind-boggling.”
She argues that the president's remarks reveal a significant disconnect from the harsh realities faced by Ghanaians, especially those living in northern Ghana.
In his address, President Akufo-Addo slammed the NDC's John Dramani Mahama, urging voters to support Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the candidate capable of building on the progress made by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Yesterday I heard president Akufo Addo speaking in the Upper East Region and his utterances were utterly mind boggling, NPP is clearly out of touch and out of sync, it is time to vote them out! #Ghana is not a family heirloom.#GhanaDeservesBetter #Choose8 vote for John Mahama! pic.twitter.com/62qSdUDrXY

He claimed that the NDC's position on the ballot, specifically the selection of number 8, would not bode well for the opposition party in the upcoming elections.
However, in a post shared on X on October 3, Mogtari emphasized that the pressing challenges confronting citizens in the Upper East Region, such as economic hardships and inadequate infrastructure, starkly contrast with the president’s overly optimistic remarks.
She contended that President Akufo-Addo’s failure to recognize these issues signifies a lack of understanding and empathy for the everyday struggles of ordinary Ghanaians.
Mogtari further criticised the president's approach, stating that true leadership should focus on addressing the concerns of the people.
She called for a more compassionate and responsive government that actively engages with citizens to identify solutions to their challenges, rather than making comments that fail to resonate with the lived experiences of Ghanaians.
As the 2024 elections approach, she urged the public to recognise the necessity for change in leadership, asserting that an NDC administration would prioritise the welfare of all citizens, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs met.
"Yesterday I heard President Akufo-Addo speaking in the Upper East Region and his utterances were utterly mind-boggling, NPP is clearly out of touch and out of sync, it is time to vote them out! #Ghana is not a family heirloom," she posted.
