The Tesano Police have now charged the car dealer who shot and killed an artisan at Alajo last week with murder.

Nana Frimpong was earlier charged with an attempted murder when he shot 32-year-old Richard Boadi. The victim was rushed to the Greater Accra Region hospital and was receiving treatment until he died Thursday.

Tesano District Police Commander, DSP Edward Tetteh told Joy News' Beatrice Adu the death of the victim has occasioned a change in the charges to be preferred against the suspect.

In the autopsy report, a copy of which has been intercepted by Joy News, the artisan’s right kidney and colon were removed because they were badly damaged when they were hit by the stray bullet.

He also lost a lot of blood and as a result was given 12 pints of same, the report added.

But Mr Boadi did not make it.

“We are now changing our charges and we will see the way forward,” the Tesano District Police boss said.

The tragedy was caused by what could pass as a harmless misunderstanding between the deceased and the suspect.

The late Boadi reportedly told the suspect to reposition his red Hyundai vehicle which was wrongly parked in front of his mechanic shop.

The suspect disregarded the artisan’s plea which led to a strong argument, an eyewitness has said.

Mr Frimpong reached for a pistol in his vehicle and fired a warning shot which hit the deceased.

Over hundred angry artisans besieged the premises of Joy FM Thursday to demand justice for their fallen colleague.

The artisans who were clad in red, with other wielding pictures of the deceased, said they want the law to deal with their colleague’s killer.

There were claims that Mr Frimpong had escaped police custody, but Superintendent Edward Tetteh said he was remanded after he was arraigned on Wednesday.

Reacting to the issue on Joy FM’s Top Story, the Ayawaso Central MP, Henry Quartey described the incident as unfortunate.

The deputy Interior Minister is appealing to the artisans to desist from acts that flout the law in their attempt to seek justice.

“The security agencies are those mandated by law to ensure the protection of lives in this country,” he said, adding government will ensure justice is served family of the deceased.
