The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has stepped up the repainting of kerbs and road medians along major roads in the capital, with the exercise progressing steadily as part of measures to improve visibility and enhance public safety.
The ongoing works have already covered kerbs and median blocks around the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, while repainting is currently underway along the Avenor Junction–Kwame Nkrumah Interchange corridor.
Sections within the Central Business District and around selected major intersections, which formed part of the first phase, have been completed.

Speaking to the media, the Mayor of Accra, Michael Kpakpo Allotey, described the initiative as a practical road safety intervention aimed at making road edges and median ends more visible to motorists.
He noted that faded kerbs and poorly defined medians often pose dangers, especially at night and during rainy conditions, and said the repainting would help reduce accidents and improve driving conditions across the city.

The Mayor explained that the works are being executed in phases to minimise traffic disruptions and protect workers operating close to moving vehicles, adding that additional locations will be covered as the exercise progresses.

He also appealed to motorists to slow down near work zones, obey traffic directions and exercise patience to ensure the safety of all road users.
