The Deputy Appointment Committee Chair Kweku George Ricketts-Hagan, has announced that the ministerial nominees vetted on Monday, February 24 and Tuesday, February 25 have been approved by consensus.
According to him, this decision was reached in a meeting with the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, where it was agreed that the nominees should be approved by Parliament.
“I have a message that was agreed upon between myself and the Minority Leader. At the end of the proceedings of yesterday and today, we have agreed by consensus to approve the nominees we have vetted,” the Deputy Majority Leader stated.
He made this announcement during the Appointments Committee vetting on Tuesday, February 25.
The Appointments Committee of Parliament began public hearings on Monday, February 24, to vet President John Mahama’s ministerial nominees.
This follows President Mahama’s nomination of 13 deputy ministers to support their respective sectors in driving national development, fulfilling government promises, and advancing Ghana’s socio-economic agenda.
The nominees who have been vetted include Thomas Nyarko Ampem, the Deputy Minister-designate for Finance; John Kofi Setor Dumelo, the Deputy Minister-designate for Food and Agriculture; and Richard Gyan-Mensah, the Deputy Minister-designate for Energy and Green Transition.
Others are Clement Abas Apaak, the Deputy Minister-designate for Education; Lydia Akanvariba, the Minister of State-designate for Public Sector Reforms; and Ebenezer Terlabi, the Deputy Minister-designate for Interior.
