Dansoman Liberty Professionals on Sunday played a highly spirited game to hold Kumasi Asante Kotoko to a one all drawn game in their Onetouch Premier League match at the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast.
After a goalless first half, both sides resumed the second half with greater determination, but it was Liberty who soon had the upper hand as they stringed their passes together in attack and scored the match opener in the 51sr minute through Midfielder Kofi Nti Boakye.
Boakye after collecting a midfield pass raced past the defensemen of Kotoko to put his side ahead.
Immediately after the goal, Kotoko brought on Nana Arhin Duah for Mark Adu Amofa to strengthen their attack and the change seemed to work in their favour.
Kotoko from then on forced Liberty to play the game in their own half.
The ‘Porcupine Warriors’ kept the goal area of the visitors boiling and it came as no surprise when outside right Edmund Owusu-Ansah in a solo effort scored the much needed equalizer in the 85th minute to bring some relief to their vociferous supporters.
Earlier before the kick off, a minutes silence was observed for the late Kwame Amoa Bosompem, Greater Accra representative of Kumasi Asante Kotoko who passed away on Friday morning.
