Mr Wonder Boasilenu, Hohoe North Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the party hierarchy to fast track moves towards bridging the perceived gap between the party and the Government.
He said the incident has left a deep crack between the two institutions, which was generating bitterness and resentment among the party supporters and foot soldiers.
Mr Boasilenu, who stated this in a press conference on Tuesday in Hohoe, said the perception that Government was neglecting the party that brought it to power was gaining ground.
He said government had detached itself from the party and its structures, which was becoming a problem to the fortunes of the party, "if attempts are not made to address the unfortunate situation."
Mr Boasilenu indicated that it was becoming obvious that government appointees were harvesting from the hard labour of the generality of the party at the expense of the majority who sacrificed their lives and resources to wrest power from the New Patriotic Party.
He said the "hand that fed the government" was being chopped off and this could pose a threat to the party's chances in the 2012 general elections.
The constituency chairman observed that the party's structures had been dysfunctional and its operations reduced, adding "the earlier this emerging phenomenon was stitched the better for all of us."
Mr. Boasilenu called for bottom-up approaches towards addressing the problems as it would be suicidal if concrete measures were not adopted to patch up the differences.
He enquired whether the party was any different from government, and urged the leader of the party to rise to the occasion.
Mr Boasilenu urged party supporters to remain resolute.
