An aspiring General Secretary of the People’s National Convention (PNC) Atik Mohammed says any life lost at the country’s public hospital should be blamed on President John Mahama.
According to Atik Muhammad, President John Mahama did not show commitment to ending the striking doctors and the plight of Ghanaians when he stated that he will not go beyond the budget allocation in dealing with their demand for a condition of service.
President Mahama addressing the Ghana Midwives Association at the launch of their 80th anniversary in Accra stated that he will not authorize any expenditure or wages not provided for in the budget for both workers and Article 71 office holders.
Speaking on Peace FM Thursday, Atik Mohammd – who describes himself as a policy analyst – stated that the comment by the president is most unfortunate.
He said he has proven that he is not interested in negotiating with the doctors to reach amicable solution to this problem.
Atik alleged that, the posture of the President shows he is behind the communicators who rained insults on the striking doctors.
He said instead of negotiating with the doctors, the government has rather leaked their demands to the public to whip up public sentiments against the doctors.
“They [government communicators] intentionally leaked the demands of the doctors so that the public will sympathize with the government. They just wanted Ghanaians to believe that doctors who have sworn to protect lives now don’t care about their lives,” he averred.
Doctors working in public health facilities declared a strike action after negotiations with government on their condition of service hit a deadlock.
